Felt the fight just to find all along.
Love’s a surrender.
Love’s a surrender.

[Verse 1]
I played the hero, I played the knight
I played the warrior, the soldier
Inside all the songs I'd write
But I'm just a man with a pen for a blade
Thought I could capture your heart
If I fought hard enough on this page, hm
[Pre-Chorus]
I waged war trying to be somebody you adore
These scars I bore hoping these lines made you love me more
My love, it's time
[Chorus]
I lay down my sword, I lay down my shield
I'll take a knee on this battlefield
I tried to bleed my way to your heart
Felt the fight just to find all along
Love's a surrender
Love's a surrender
[Verse 2]
I thought a heart was something you earn
So I sacrificed all my life tryna be somebody you deserved, oh
[Pre-Chorus]
I waged war tryin' to be somebody you adore
These scars I bore hoping these lines made you love me more
My love, it's time
[Chorus]
I lay down my sword, I lay down my shield
I'll take a knee on this battlefield
I tried to bleed my way to your heart
Felt the fight just to find all along
